Alll kayaks have a manufacturer’s maximum weight rating, usually between 300 and 450 pounds, depending on the model. This includes the paddler and all their gear but you’d have to be a pretty huge guy to max out most kayaks. If course, the heavier the load rating, the heavier the kayak. I would try to buy one that was rated lower rather than higher if I did not need the high capacity. A lighter boat is more maneuverable and easier to load and haul.

yes, too much weight will be aquard in a kayak, and you will either sink the kayak or it will be very tippy.
