How can I mount a Lowrance X-65 onto my Wilderness Systems Tarpon 160 kayak?

I have just recently gotten a Lowrance X-65 fish finder from a friend. I would like to mount it and use it on my kayak. I need a transducer as well as a power cable. How should I approach this problem? Do I have to drill a hole through my kayak for a transducer?

    NO!! Don’t drill any holes.
simply pick a flat level spot on the bottom of your ‘yak (on the INSIDE) and glue the face of the transducer down with waterproof silicone glue.
l have my depth finder mounted to the deck of mine with strips of velcro so it is easily removable. for a battery, l use a 12V, 2.3 amp toy truck battery l picked up at walmart with the charger for 19.00. l get 2 or 3 days use or more with this battery. actually l bought two, to have an extra for extended trips. the battery is held on to the underneath side of the deck also with velcro.

the transducer will shoot through the hull with absolutely no noticeable drop in sensitivity or power. you can do this on many boats. you just don’t want any bubbles in the silicone.

you will need to get the correct transducer from lowrance or perhaps a local marine supply may have an old one they might just give you.
