I am interested in buying a kayak, but I am not sure what kind will be the best for me, got any ideas?

I live by the ocean and bays in New Jersey. I would like to fish off of the kayak, as well as ride waves if I want. I would also like to take a trip down the Delaware River and face the small whitewater. I am not sure what the best kayak would be seeing that I would like to do all these things. Any suggestions?

I used YAK-boards for all my surfing and white-water trips. It’s a sit-on-top so if you don’t mind getting wet, it worked well for me because of how warm it is in Texas, never got cold, plus you can get a white-water skirt ordered for it for a little extra. Try it out maybe it’s what you want

I’d suggest a sit on top kayak, most definatly. They are the only way to go for anything oceanside if your not experienced in the waves. The smaller boats are more manuverable for oceans and rivers, And you can find some that are very stable. And putting fishing mounts on any them is possible. It is possible to actully but kayaks from the factory with fishing kits already on them In fact, Ocean Kayak makes the Big Yak Fishing Editin. Probally perfect for your. Inexpensive, 9’6″ long so it’s great in the surf or river. It has rod holder built in and is a sit on top so you don’t have to worry about sinking it. Island Surf and Sail on Long Beach Island has these in stock, along with many other fishing kayaks.
