I know that they are designed to be used eyes up, with a multiplier/baitcaster type reel, however I just prefer to use a fixed spool if it would fit onto the reel seat of a kayak rod.

It would fit if the foot of the reel fit into the reel seat on the rod. However, the trigger would make it just about impossible to grip the rod comfortably, and the tiny guides would shorten your casts.
I’ve seen just this sort of setup used, generally by kids who either didn’t know any better or that was all they could afford, used for dangling a line off a pier. They would generally hold the rod with the reel up (as in upside down) and crank backwards to wind in the line. I can’t imagine using something like this for any serious fishing.
If you want to use a fixed spool reel on that type of rod, look at a push-button reel like one of the Zebco spincasters. They’re made for use on such a rod (reel on top, trigger grip, etc.)
pretty sure the reel feet are close enough in size that it will fit.
spinning rods have oversize guides because the line comes off the spool in wide arcs. the tiny guides will really hamper the casts.
if you have a rod and a reel and are economizing by making use of what you have, go for it. If you’re putting a rig together, I highly recommend you keep looking……….
