Best rod and reel for surf shark fishing..?

I live in the Gulf Coast in Pinellas Co. and I’m wanting to get into shark fishing. Im looking at catching sharks in the 5-6 foot range. I have no means of getting the bait out with a kayak or anything so I was thinking a spinning reel. I know most use conventional but how would I get the bait out? Can you suggest a good spinning reel that can hold about 500 yards of 50 lb braid? Also if you can suggest a way to get the bait out what would a good conventional reel be? For the spinning reel I’m looking for a 2 piece rod that can get the bait out far enough, any ideas?

What do you think about a Daiwa Emcast Plus 6000 on a Shakespeare Powerod Bigwater Spinning Rod, 7′.?

I plan on fishing for Tarpon off a private pier in the Florida Keys. I know the rod is a bit short but I have to travel with it and I have a kayak on site to paddle out my baits.
There are so many options available for rod and reel choices that I’m not sure what to chose.
My budget is around 130 dollars.

Inexpensive Rod/Reel Combo for Inshore Saltwater Fishing?

Hi all,

I’ve been saltwater fishing pretty consistently for about 2 years now and really love it, but I’m in need of a new (and inexpensive) rod/reel combo. I’m a poor law student and I’m always at my family’s beach house during breaks. I just got a kayak, so I’ll be doing a lot of inshore fishing in Mobile Bay within the next two weeks. I also fish from sandbars in the Gulf, so I’m looking for something that will stand up to different types of fish, from ladyfish and whiting to red bulls and flounder. My price limit is around $200 for both the rod and reel, but the cheaper the better. I just want to get the most bang for my buck. I like Daiwa rods and my Shimano 4000 spinning reel, but I’m open to trying a baitcasting reel as well. I’ve heard great things about Daiwa, Penn, and Abu gear.

What’s the best option for me?

Thanks in advance for your advice!!
