Im looking for a small fishing pole that can still catch a big fish. I need it for when im on my kayak so it needs to be small and easy to cast.

Is it dangerous to fish on a kayak?
I am not going that far but at least i expect some big and strong fish. can the fish pull the kayak or tip it over, or is it ok. i can swim.

I live in Alaska but know little about this form of fishing, any information on the great.
How fast do I troll for them, what size hooks in the salmon bait do I use? Etc etc?
