Your best bet is to find a used one. Depending on what kind of water you will be paddling and what you will be fishing for, a new yak can cost you from $800 to over $2,000. I paddle and fish offshore Hawaiian waters in an Ocean Kayak Prowler 13 Angler Edition. With added rudder I spent about $1200. I also added a Humminbird fishfinder with a thru-hull transducer that fits in the rear scupper hole.

do you have an academy store near you they have a pretty good selection of kayaks for around 400.00 bucks and they work fine for fishing and just tooling around the local lakes
