Check out a Carolina 14 or 14.5. Shop on your local craigslist or ebay to find one used and go for it. It’s a cheap reliable kayak and great for beginners. If you’ve never kayaked before you should also consider some basic lessons. You don’t want to try to learn how to right or escape from an upside down kayak while you’re upside down in the kayak.
