I do a lot of kayaking,mostly in NE US and would like to be able to ID islands, know water depths, mark launch sites, etc. without spending a fortune. Seems like some expensive tech offer functions like fish finding that I don’t need, and others cost a bundle for just road GPS but then you need to purchase special and expensive marine memory cards. Is there something that I can purchase to do what I want at a reasonable price.
According to the link below it sounds like the Garmin E trex will be your best bet. You should be able to find it for about $100 and it should do everything you want.

I use the Garmin GPSMAP 76 for kayaking. It is nothing fancy but has everything needed and is completely waterproof. It is ideal for watersports I think. Here is an article with some info on it…
