Why has no one on YA ever been spear fishing in their life?

I need someone with actual experience to answer some questions:

First what implement is the best that I can buy? I heard to buy a co2 powered spear instead of a band powered one?

Second, where should I go? I live on the coast.. there is a sound side I can go on, but I worry about boats and jet skis. What is a smart way to get away from them? I would imagine staying close to shore is the way to go?

What are some safety tips you can give me? One thing that comes to mind, where ever I go I plan on being away from swimmers, but that would be my worst nightmare, to accidentally spear a swimmer that was in the area that I didn’t see or something like that.

How dangerous are shark to snorkelers (I don’t want to scuba just yet) and what type of knife is used for a diver as a just-in-case?

Can I spear shark or would this be suicidal?

Lastly I have an ocean going 1 man kayak. Am I being rediculous to think that I could use a small anchor to keep the kayak in place while I spear fish near it on a calm day?

well im not a complete spearfishing expert (im only 17), but with the shark stuff: if a shark comes near you, you just keep eye contact and theyll usually circle for a while then leave you alone. god i was circled by a 7 foot whaler when i was like 10 – not fun, but my uncle handled it. didnt even lose my tiny little fish haha. i dont think having a knife will help much if they come that close, knives are usually for cutting the spear line if its caught under a rock or in a fish you cant handle, not for fighting off sharks. and you really wouldnt want to spear a shark – theyll almost definitely dart away, but youll lose your gun. thats what ive been told

A.) starting off with the attitude of asking “why has no one on YA ever been spearfishing in their life is NOT going to help your cause, you just look like an immature self entered jackass

B.) Stay away from boats and all that, can kill you and scare fish

C.) If you can’t see the ten foot range you have and might spear a swimmer, you shouldn’t be spearfishing there (actually, you shouldn’t be spearfishing in general)

D.) I use a U.S. Navy knife that’s designed for diving, you just have to find one designed for it…

E.) Very suicidal… You clearly don’t have any idea how a speargun works. THE THING IS STILL ATTACHED TO YOU AND THE SHARK WILL STILL BE ALIVE! So it’ll drag you down and you’ll drown

F.) How can you not spell ridiculous when given a spell check? I suppose you could but there’s still a lot of variables…

G.) What’s wrong with a band powered gun? You also clearly have no understanding of physics that you think “gas must be better than band”, those are some POWERFUL rubber bands, never have to be refueled, and don’t just break on you because the technology isn’t sophisticated

Anyway, you CLEARLY have NO IDEA what spearfishing is about at all, yet you come on asking why no one else knows about spearfishing when you’re asking them? You can’t get more lost
